Happy Chinese New Year!
Best wishes for a healthy and prosperous new year.

January 31, 2011

Today is the last day of January …. finally! It was one of the colder months.

… Not that it was quiet or nothing was happening … I just didn’t feel like blogging. I opened my blog every day and said to myself –“I have to write something”- but nothing came to me. And now we’re at the end of the month, the last day.

So, to recap …
• First of all, HAPPY NEW YEAR! All the best to everyone out there. May 2011 be GREAT!
• Beginning of January, still had my tree up, was planning to take it down the first weekend of the month.
• After 2 weekends of staring at the xmas tree realizing it’s still there and it’s not gonna walk out of the house by off itself, I eventually took the ornaments off and the tree was ready to hit the curb. But wait, the tree just didn’t seem to want to leave! Misé-arbre (that’s what we named it, like the broadway show les Misérable) finally got booted … at least onto the porch. It really did look miserable after 4 weeks. The branches were so droopy and hard. And this brings us to today – Monday, January 31st, the last day of the month. The tree will be with us for a while, it’s kinda frozen seeing that we didn’t take it out of the stand. We’ll fill it with hot water to wiggle it out … and we know how long that will take!!!!
• My Allie auditioned for the Variety Show at school before the holidays, still waiting for results. We think she made it … make that WE KNOW she made it!
• We were out of the house 4 Saturdays in a row – dinners, dinners and more dinners. Hoping to finally stay at home on a Saturday to relax, we were out again … finally got a break the last Saturday

3 more days til Xmas ... and still shoppin'

There's just not enough time to do everything. I wish Christmas was longer than just 1 day. With all the running around and preparations, Christmas deserves at least a couple of days to enjoy and relax.

Well, our tree is up, earlier than usual and it looks soooooo pretty. The only bummer was that half the lights didn't work!!!! That was really fustrating ... a chunk of the (burnt-out) lights had to be shoved into the trunk of the tree. With what was remaining, there was juuuust enough lights to go around.

My christmas dinner was done last Saturday so I don't have to worry about any big dinner preps at our place, and I can devote the last few days to baking cookies and wrapping gifts, and of course, taking a photo of our tree with all the presents on christmas eve.

Happy holidays to everyone, Merry Christmas and all the best for a prosperous 2011!
1st day of December

... 24 more days til Christmas, people ... that's less than 4 weeks!

It's pouring rain here (Montreal), not a great way to start the month of December -yuk!- Well, it's officially the start of holiday shopping. The next few weeks will definitely be very busy.

Note cards and Christmas tags ...

... this is what I've been doing for the past 2 days, along with christmas cards from a few weeks back. All this is for a Winterlude Concert at my daughter's HS.
During the concert, these christmas and note cards will be on sale to raise funds in support of this great event. The proceeds will go toward the music deparment to help with the repairs of insturments, acquiring new ones, event outings and so much more. The music department, teachers and musicians are absolutely amazing.
